Feasibility of Using Green Laser in Monitoring Local Scour around Bridge Pier

Scour around bridge piers is considered as one of the major factors which causes failure bridges in United States. An undetected scour can affect stability bridge, eventually leading to collapse bridge. The experimental investigation a pier using non-contact measuring method carried out this research. A green laser-based ranging technique performed on prefabricated hole study influencing ability reconstruct shape hole. experiment was conducted 10 ft diameter pool and Leica scan station II used for scanning turbidity water changed by adding Kaolinite powder water. varied from 1.2 NTU 20.8 Kaolinite. lab experiments involved changing simulate real world conditions. results show that has direct dependence efficiency laser map underwater profile. capture fabricated bed topography were decreased increased even when depth reduced. effective be also bathymetry profiling detection objects. detecting safe, efficient, economical.
